custom character
Player-designed persona
A custom character is a player-created figure in a video game, as opposed to a pre-designed protagonist.
Games with character creators let players customize appearance, abilities, and backstory: I spent two hours on my custom character before actually playing.
The term also applies to user-designed figures in tabletop roleplaying games.
