criminal neglect
Punishable failure caring
Criminal neglect is failure to provide necessary care when legally obligated to do so, rising to the level of a crime.
It typically involves caregivers—parents, medical staff, nursing home workers—whose inaction causes serious harm or death: The coroner's report led to charges of criminal neglect.
Distinguished from ordinary negligence by severity and intent, it may also be called criminal negligence.
