contemporary gospel

Contemporary gospel is a modern style of gospel music that blends traditional Black church music with pop, R&B, hip-hop, and urban sounds.

It emerged in the 1960s and 1970s, moving away from traditional choir arrangements toward solo artists and contemporary production.

Artists like Kirk Franklin and Mary Mary represent the genre: The station plays contemporary gospel alongside secular R&B.
