charitableness

Spirit of giving

Charitableness is the quality of being charitable—generous in giving to those in need, or inclined to judge others kindly rather than harshly.

The word covers both material generosity and a forgiving disposition: Her charitableness extended to everyone, even those who had wronged her.

It appears more often in older or formal writing than in everyday speech.
