candid photography
Capturing natural moments
Candid photography captures subjects in spontaneous, unposed moments—people caught naturally rather than arranged for the camera.
The approach values authenticity over formality: The wedding photographer mixed formal portraits with candid shots of guests laughing.
Street photography is largely candid.
The term distinguishes itself from portraiture, where subjects knowingly present themselves.
