broken off
Snapped and detached
Broken off describes something that has been separated or detached from a larger whole, typically by force or fracture: a broken-off branch, the broken-off handle of a mug.
It also applies to things abruptly ended or discontinued: broken-off negotiations, a broken-off engagement.
The hyphenated form works as an adjective before a noun; without the hyphen, it's the past participle of break off: The tip had broken off.
