box kites
Three-dimensional wind toys
Box kites are kites with a three-dimensional frame, typically rectangular or hexagonal, covered with fabric on portions of the structure while leaving open sections that allow air to pass through.
The design creates stability in strong winds and generates more lift than flat kites: Box kites were used for meteorological observations before weather balloons.
They remain popular with hobbyists for their reliable flight characteristics.
