bashing about

Crashing here, there

Bashing about means moving or acting in a rough, careless, or noisy manner.

In British usage especially, it suggests knocking into things or handling something without care: Stop bashing about in the kitchen.

It can also mean traveling or moving around without a clear purpose: We spent the afternoon bashing about town.
