barn quilt
Painted building square
A barn quilt is a large painted wooden panel, typically displaying a geometric quilt pattern, mounted on the exterior of a barn or other rural building.
These decorative squares became popular in the early 2000s as folk art installations celebrating quilting heritage and adding color to agricultural landscapes.
Many communities create barn quilt trails for tourists to follow: We spent Saturday driving the county's barn quilt trail.
