baby bust
Population growth slump
A baby bust is a period of sharply declining birth rates, the opposite of a baby boom.
The term often refers specifically to the drop in U.S. births during the 1960s and 1970s following the postwar baby boom: The baby bust generation entered a less competitive job market.
People born during such periods are sometimes called baby busters.
