art snob
Highbrow aesthetic judge
An art snob is someone who judges others' taste in art as inferior to their own, typically favoring highbrow or avant-garde work while dismissing popular or accessible art as unsophisticated.
The term implies pretension and condescension: He's such an art snob—he won't even look at anything painted after 1900.
Art snobs often name-drop obscure artists or movements to signal their superior knowledge.
