aristocratic society

Blue-blooded social class

An aristocratic society is one where power, wealth, and status concentrate in a hereditary upper class distinguished by noble titles, land ownership, and privileged access to government.

The term often carries connotations of rigid hierarchy and limited social mobility: Pre-revolutionary France was an aristocratic society where peasants had few rights.

It may also describe any community dominated by elite families or old money.
