ankle roll
Sideways foot buckle
An ankle roll is a rotational movement of the ankle joint, either as a deliberate exercise to improve flexibility and warm up the joint, or as an unwanted twisting motion that causes injury.
In the exercise sense: Do ten ankle rolls in each direction before your run.
The injury sense overlaps with a sprained ankle—the foot rolls inward or outward, stretching or tearing ligaments.
