account lockout
Login attempt limit
Account lockout is a security measure that blocks access to an account after too many failed login attempts.
Systems trigger lockouts to prevent unauthorized access through password guessing or brute-force attacks.
Lockouts may be temporary—lasting minutes or hours—or require manual reset by an administrator: After five wrong passwords, the account lockout kicked in and I had to call IT.
