USDA Organic
Green seal certification
USDA Organic is a certification label indicating that agricultural products meet federal standards for organic production.
The label requires that crops be grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and that livestock have access to outdoor space and receive no antibiotics or growth hormones.
Products labeled "organic" must contain at least 95% organic ingredients; "made with organic ingredients" requires 70%.
Look for the USDA Organic seal on the packaging.
The certification involves inspections and documentation, making it more rigorous than unregulated terms like "natural."
