Teach for America
Educational service program
Teach for America is a nonprofit organization that recruits recent college graduates to teach for two years in under-resourced public schools.
Founded in 1990, the program places participants—called corps members—in low-income communities across the United States.
TFA has been praised for bringing talent to struggling schools and criticized for putting inexperienced teachers in challenging classrooms: She joined Teach for America after graduating from Yale.
