Pyeongchang
Gangwon Province municipality
Pyeongchang is a county in the mountainous Gangwon Province of South Korea, known internationally as the host of the 2018 Winter Olympics.
The name means "peaceful and prosperous land." Not to be confused with Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea—a distinction Olympic organizers emphasized by adjusting the romanization to include the internal capital C.
