Mischief Night

Pre-Halloween troublemaking

Mischief Night is the evening before Halloween, traditionally when children and teenagers engage in minor pranks and vandalism—soaping windows, throwing eggs, toilet-papering trees, smashing pumpkins.

The term is primarily used in the northeastern United States; other regions call it Devil's Night or Gate Night, or don't observe it at all.

The neighbors always bring their porch decorations inside on Mischief Night.
