Ken dolls
Male fashion figures
Ken dolls are the male companion dolls to Barbie, manufactured by Mattel since 1961.
Named after the creators' son, Ken serves as Barbie's boyfriend in the toy line's mythology.
Figuratively, a Ken doll describes a man who is attractive but bland, plastic-looking, or lacking depth: He's handsome but kind of a Ken doll—no personality whatsoever.
