Jayhawker
Kansas university supporter
A Jayhawker is a native or resident of Kansas, or specifically a student, athlete, or supporter of the University of Kansas: The Jayhawkers play in the Big 12 Conference.
The term carries historical weight from the antislavery guerrillas who fought in Bleeding Kansas before and during the Civil War.
Kansas remains the Jayhawker State, and the mythical jayhawk serves as the university mascot. (Lowercase jayhawker emphasizes the historical guerrilla sense.)
