HDL cholesterol
Beneficial blood fats
HDL cholesterol is the cholesterol carried in high-density lipoproteins, often called "good cholesterol" because it transports cholesterol away from arteries to the liver for disposal.
Higher levels of HDL cholesterol are associated with lower risk of heart disease, in contrast to LDL cholesterol, which deposits cholesterol in arterial walls.
Her doctor was pleased that her HDL cholesterol had increased with exercise.
