Dutch clogs

Holland's traditional footwear

Dutch clogs are traditional wooden shoes carved from a single block of wood, historically worn in the Netherlands for farming and other outdoor work.

The rigid wooden sole protected feet from wet ground and sharp objects.

Today they function mainly as tourist souvenirs and cultural symbols, though some Dutch farmers and gardeners still wear them: She brought back a pair of miniature Dutch clogs from Amsterdam.
