AppleCare is Apple's extended warranty and technical support program for its devices.
The basic version covers hardware repairs and phone support for a limited period.
AppleCare+ extends coverage and adds protection against accidental damage for an additional fee: I dropped my iPhone but AppleCare+ covered the screen replacement.
The name has become shorthand for any Apple warranty claim or repair service.
