Yippee ki-yay is an exuberant cowboy exclamation, originally expressing joy or triumph during cattle drives.
The phrase gained modern currency from the *Die Hard* films, where Bruce Willis's character uses it—usually followed by "motherfucker"—as a defiant taunt.
