vulturine

Like a scavenger

Vulturine means resembling or characteristic of a vulture.

The word applies literally to birds with vulture-like features, but more often appears figuratively to describe someone who preys on the weak or waits to profit from others' misfortune: vulturine investors circling the failing company, a vulturine gaze fixed on the dying man's estate.
