uppitiness
Acting above station
Uppitiness is the quality of being uppity—acting above one's presumed station or refusing to show expected deference.
The term carries a history of being used against Black Americans who asserted themselves: They didn't like her uppitiness.
It retains condescending or dismissive overtones, implying someone should know their place.
