truistic

Stating the obvious

Truistic describes something that states an obvious truth—a truism.

A truistic statement is so self-evidently true that it adds nothing new: His observation that people need food to survive was truistic.

The word often carries a dismissive tone, suggesting the point being made is too obvious to be worth making.
