toddling
Walking like babies
Toddling is walking with the short, unsteady steps characteristic of a young child just learning to walk.
The word captures that distinctive gait—slightly wobbly, determined, not quite in full control: The baby came toddling across the room.
Adults who walk slowly or aimlessly may also toddle: I'm just toddling off to the shops.
