tectonic boundary
Crustal division line
A tectonic boundary is where two of Earth's crustal plates meet and interact.
These boundaries are classified by how the plates move relative to each other: divergent boundaries occur where plates pull apart, convergent boundaries where they push together, and transform boundaries where they slide past one another.
Most earthquakes and volcanic activity occur along tectonic boundaries.
The San Andreas Fault marks a transform tectonic boundary.
