tattiness
State of disrepair
Tattiness is the quality of being worn, shabby, or slightly run-down.
It describes the state of things showing wear from age or neglect—frayed upholstery, peeling paint, faded curtains.
The word carries a sense of seediness without total decay: The hotel's tattiness was part of its charm.
British English uses it more than American.
