taboo humor
Off-limits comedy territory
Taboo humor is comedy that deliberately violates social prohibitions—jokes about death, sex, bodily functions, religion, race, or other sensitive topics.
The humor often derives from the shock of transgression itself: His taboo humor about funerals made some guests uncomfortable.
Also called dark humor or transgressive comedy, it tests boundaries of what audiences will laugh at versus find offensive.
