swaddling cloth
Baby's snug wrap
Swaddling cloth is fabric wrapped snugly around an infant to restrict movement and provide comfort.
The practice dates to ancient times, and the term appears memorably in biblical accounts of Jesus's birth: She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger.
The plural *swaddling clothes* is more common than the singular.
