summer hours
Warm-weather work shift
Summer hours are a modified work schedule during warmer months, typically allowing employees to leave early on Fridays or work compressed weeks.
Many offices adopt summer hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day: We're on summer hours, so the office closes at noon on Fridays.
The practice acknowledges slower business periods and the appeal of longer daylight.
