stickum
Grip-enhancing goo
Stickum is a sticky substance used to improve grip, especially on a ball or handle.
Football players once applied stickum to their hands and gloves to catch passes more reliably—a practice now banned in most leagues.
The word extends to any tacky adhesive: a little stickum on the back of the poster.
Also spelled stick-um.
