self-sacrificing

Puts others first

Self-sacrificing describes someone who gives up their own interests, comfort, or well-being for the benefit of others.

The term usually carries admiration: a self-sacrificing mother who worked three jobs.

But it can suggest excessive martyrdom or an unhealthy disregard for one's own needs: His self-sacrificing tendencies left him exhausted and resentful.
