scorching hot
Painfully high temperature
Scorching hot describes extreme heat—temperatures that feel capable of burning or searing.
The phrase is emphatic, used for blistering weather, surfaces too hot to touch, or intensely spicy food: It was scorching hot on the beach today.
The redundancy of pairing scorching with hot adds emphasis rather than meaning.
