scherzos
Lively musical sections
Scherzos is the plural of scherzo, a lively, playful movement in classical music, typically the third movement of a symphony or sonata.
The Italian word means "joke," and scherzos are characterized by quick tempo and light, sometimes mischievous character: Beethoven's scherzos replaced the gentler minuets of earlier composers.
