satirical fantasy
Ridicule through unreality
Satirical fantasy is fiction that uses fantastical settings and elements to mock or critique real-world institutions, politics, or human folly.
The genre employs magic, invented worlds, or supernatural creatures as vehicles for social commentary: Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels are satirical fantasy that lampoons everything from religion to banking.
The fantasy elements provide distance that makes the criticism both palatable and pointed.
