rose-tinted glasses
Idealistic viewing lenses
Rose-tinted glasses are an optimistic or naively positive outlook that filters out unpleasant realities.
To view the past through rose-tinted glasses is to remember it as better than it was.
The metaphor suggests pink lenses that literally color everything in flattering hues.
Also rose-colored glasses.
