refragmented

Broken up anew

Refragmented describes something that has been broken into pieces again after being whole or reassembled.

Data that was defragmented on a hard drive becomes refragmented through normal use as files are added and deleted.

The term applies anywhere fragmentation recurs: The coalition refragmented along ethnic lines within months of the peace accord.
