ram raid

Drive through storefront

A ram raid is a robbery in which thieves crash a vehicle—typically a stolen car or truck—through a storefront to quickly grab merchandise and escape.

The term originated in Britain but describes a tactic used worldwide: The jewelry store was hit by a ram raid at 3 a.m.

As a verb, to ram-raid is to commit such a robbery.
