pre-menstrual syndrome
Cycle's early symptoms
Pre-menstrual syndrome, usually abbreviated PMS, is a cluster of physical and emotional symptoms some women experience in the days before menstruation—bloating, mood swings, irritability, fatigue, food cravings.
The term is sometimes used dismissively to attribute a woman's anger or frustration to hormones rather than legitimate cause: What's wrong with her—PMS?
