overqualifying
Surpassing job requirements
Overqualifying is adding excessive conditions, caveats, or hedging language to a statement.
Someone overqualifies when they undermine their own point through too many disclaimers: He kept overqualifying his opinion until no one was sure what he actually believed.
The term also describes pursuing credentials beyond what a position requires, potentially making oneself less hireable for entry-level work.
