off-color humor
Jokes pushing boundaries
Off-color humor is comedy that deals with topics considered improper or indecent—typically sex, bodily functions, or taboo subjects.
The phrase suggests something slightly beyond the bounds of polite conversation: His off-color humor didn't go over well at the company dinner.
The term is milder than "dirty" or "obscene," implying jokes that are risqué rather than outright vulgar.
