nocturnal emissions
Unconscious sexual discharge
Nocturnal emissions are ejaculations that occur involuntarily during sleep, typically accompanied by erotic dreams.
The term is somewhat clinical or euphemistic; wet dream is the more common informal expression.
Nocturnal emissions are most frequent among adolescent males but can occur throughout life.
They have historically been the subject of moral anxiety, though they are now understood as a normal physiological occurrence.
