Muters are people or devices that mute—silencing sound or suppressing expression.
On social media platforms, muters are users who mute accounts to hide posts without unfollowing: I'm one of the muters—I didn't unfollow him, I just couldn't take the constant political posts.
The term also applies to audio equipment that reduces or eliminates sound output.
