mellow yellow
Gentle sunny hue
Mellow yellow describes a soft, warm shade of yellow—not bright or harsh but subdued and pleasant.
The phrase gained currency from Donovan's 1966 song of the same name, which spawned a short-lived rumor that smoking dried banana peels could get you high.
The color term persists: The kitchen walls were painted a mellow yellow.
