match made in hell
Terrible romantic combination
A match made in hell is a pairing of people or things that are disastrously incompatible—the opposite of a match made in heaven.
The phrase describes relationships, partnerships, or combinations destined for conflict or failure: Their marriage was a match made in hell from the start.
It can also describe unfortunate pairings of circumstances: Cheap vodka and an empty stomach—a match made in hell.
