mailbox bashing
Destroying curbside receptacles
Mailbox bashing is the vandalistic practice of destroying roadside mailboxes, typically by swinging a baseball bat from a moving vehicle.
It's associated with bored teenagers in suburban or rural areas: We drove around mailbox bashing until someone called the cops.
The activity is a federal offense in the United States, since mailboxes are considered federal property.
