loose fill
Blown-in attic material
Loose fill is insulation material consisting of small particles—fiberglass, cellulose, or mineral wool—blown or poured into wall cavities, attics, and other spaces.
Unlike batts or rigid boards, loose fill conforms to irregular shapes and fills gaps around obstacles: The contractor recommended loose fill for the oddly shaped attic.
Also called blown-in insulation.
